A. recently went on a shopping trip to Sewfisticated in Framingham, and I know a number of people had asked what the store was like. I asked A. to put up a review post, but it is behind the standard F-lock, so I’m reposting unlocked for a wider audience.

” Today I visited the Sewfisticated that has taken up residence in the store front that used to be the Fabric Place flagship store in downtown Framingham.

They clearly haven’t finished moving in yet as there are bolts of fabric on the stairs and more than half the space is unused. They have good hours (10am-8pm weekdays and Saturday and 12pm-6pm Sundays, if I remember correctly). They have a lot of fabric and not all of it is cotton.

Prices are reasonable-good. There was 100% wool for $5/yard. i bought a 54″ wide heavy, decorated, silk (dupioni) for $9.99/yard. I bought a 45″ silk charmuese to line it with for 4.99/yard.

The selection is not as good as Fabric Place was but is superior to JoAnn’s (I’ve rarely seen silk at JoAnn’s) and may get better with time, who knows. They had some decorator fabric that would’ve worked adequately for SCA stuff and well for historical-esque costuming for $3.99-$6.99/yard. they have some laces and trims, again not a huge selection, but not shabby. all in all worth the stop on the way home and likely worth watching for further developments.”
